It' definitly doable, and even viable, at least for PvE.
Be sure that if you go this route to carefully read the info provided with the drivers though.Īnyway, hope this helps. This way you'll have a controller with a mini keyboard attached to it.
The other way to go, which fewer people seem to know about, is using a third-party driver that enables the use of the chatpad on your PC something for which there are no official drivers. You could, per set, have a total of 12 keys per scheme if you also use the back, start and two thumbstick presses as abilities, provided you don't use 2 buttons for targetting and jumping. Now you press or hold the left bumper and you'll have a new control scheme that allows you to use buttons 9-16, and the other bumper might be used to switch to 8 other keys. Say you have keys 1-8 bound on your primary scheme. What this does is, when you either click or hold (depending on your preference) the bumber, is switch to a different control scheme. If you want to just use a controller, you'll need to bind "toggles" to certain keys, like the bumbers.
You could try downloading other programs like Joy2Key, but Xpadder is easy to use and has never failed me. There are still free versions to be found for it that might be somewhat older but work just as well. Download the latest drivers for the controller that apply to your system from the Microsoft site, as well as a program called Xpadder. In fact, i'd go so far as to say that this game lends itself very well for a gamepad.įirst off, you'll need a wired 360 controller if you want to go the easy route.
